Animals: Aquarius

In this series, we are going to take a look at the animals that correspond with the archetype of each sign. First, we are going to present a few general characteristics of every sign and then we are going to list the animals that match the description. For each sign, we are going to present either specific animals that correspond with the archetype or a group of animals that share particular characteristics of the zodiac sign.

Aquarius is the misfit of the zodiac. This sign is known for its eccentricity, uniqueness, individualism and a touch of madness/brilliance. So which animals share this energy?

Chevrotain

UNGULATES

Honestly, every animal on this list is a unique creature, so it's difficult to make categories anyway but let's go with it. This group contains two special animals, okapi (zebra giraffe) and chevrotain (mouse-deer). They are both hoofed animals and that is about all they have in common. Beyond that, they are both unique in their own way, just like every Aquarius.

Orchid mantis

INSECTS

For this group, I have chosen two strange-looking insects: orchid mantis and panda ant. Basically, one of them spends most of their time pretending they are a flower and the other one is a furry ant, except it's not really an ant because it is in fact a wasp. They both refuse to conform to what they are supposed to be and do their own thing instead.

Hummingbird hawk-moth

MOTHS

In the moth group (yes, we have a moth group), meet the hummingbird hawk-moth and Venezuelan poodle-moth. I swear I didn't make these names up. They both look like some kind of cross-species experiments gone wrong. It's hard to say what they are just by looking at them, but they are unique and owning it and if you don't like them, that's your problem.

Red-lipped batfish

SEA CREATURES

The ocean is full of mysterious, weird-looking creatures, so finding two was not difficult at all. Meet sea pig and red-lipped batfish. Get ready: sea pig is not really a pig, it's a sea cucumber but it looks more like a pig than a cucumber. Are you following? And the red-lipped batfish is a not-fish-looking fish that looks like it is wearing lipstick, even though it lives at the bottom of the ocean where no one ever sees it. How beautifully Aquarian are these two?
