Astrological planets are categorized into traditional and modern planets. The traditional planets are visible with a naked eye and have been a part of astrology since the very beginning. The modern planets have been discovered much later and became a part of astrological interpretations, when it became clear, what their significance is. In the traditional planets category, there are five personal and two social planets, while the modern planets category contains three so-called transpersonal planets.
PERSONAL PLANETS
Personal planets are the Sun, the Moon, Mercury, Venus, and Mars. These planets describe the psychological and physical traits of an individual and therefore represent the building blocks of their personality in astrology. Each of the planets represents a certain impulse of human nature: ego and personal expression (the Sun), emotional nature and habits (the Moon), mental and communicative abilities (Mercury), personal values and the need for personal relationships (Venus), and their personal will and courage (Mars).
SOCIAL PLANETS
Social planets are Jupiter and Saturn. Among other things, these two planets represent the outer circumstances an individual might find themselves in and which affect them. The circumstances can be positive and supportive (Jupiter) or negative and limiting (Saturn). Social planets are slower than personal planets, but faster than transpersonal planets. They represent longer-lasting circumstances in an individual's life.
TRANSPERSONAL PLANETS
Transpersonal planets are Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. These three planets represent the higher levels of consciousness and the need for spiritual growth and development. Each of the planets represents a higher octave of a personal planet: Uranus is the higher octave of Mercury because it represents universal thinking and communication; Neptune is a higher octave of Venus because it represents universal love and compassion; Pluto is a higher octave of Mars since it represents the destruction and rebirth of the social order. Transpersonal planets are very slow, meaning they stay in the same sign for years. Their influence is felt not only on a personal level but also collectively, as the fate of entire generations.
