Nadir

The Nadir (or the IC) is the lowest point of the astrological chart. Another name for it is Imum Coeli. This is the cusp of the Fourth house; it represents the individual’s roots and their basic need for security. It also shows us what kind of home the individual creates as an adult.

The Nadir is located exactly opposite the Midheaven, which is the most visible point of the chart. Symbolically, the Nadir represents the most hidden and private part of the individual’s life. It tells us what is the most personal to the individual, what they find the most familiar, what kind of things represent a safe haven to them, and what brings them a feeling of comfort and deep personal satisfaction.

The Nadir represents the individual’s roots. Because of this, it also represents the circumstances in which the individual grew up.
